Description:

Action for Disability (South Wales) : A Million Hands+

Create an event to raise community awareness about the barriers disable people face

Leonard Cheshire Disability needs a team of 5 Network members to work together on a community awareness raising event about the barriers that disabled people face.

The event will predominately be within the Newport - Cardiff- Swansea area.

This is a one off volunteering opportunity requiring about 10 hours preparation and 5 hours for the event itself.   Times are flexible so you are able to do it at any time that suits you!

What could you do? You can choose which areas you would like to focus on, such as barriers within education or employment, attitudes and discrimination, access to work, housing, or accessibility.

You could run activities and give a talk at a Scout Group, do an interactive demonstration to the public about challenges, such as navigating through a shop layout in a wheelchair, you could put on a play with disable people, campaign alongside disabled people in your community.
